Calibration Laboratory Manager
This position is for a Laboratory Manager to manage Gamma Scientific’s Test and Calibration Lab, lab personnel and day to day operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage a group of engineers and technicians. Provide daily supervision and work scheduling. Interact and assist customers as needed
- Manage the Test and Calibration Lab as a business unit with responsibility for business development and P&L
- Assist in performing testing, calibration and measurement functions. This may include testing, measurements and calibrations of lamps, photodetectors and spectroradiometers per established procedures and testing and measurement of displays, solid state lighting and glass samples for transmission and reflectance
- Manage annual government and customer audits. Maintain NVLAP and other lab accreditation status. Manage new accreditation processes as required
- Lead the Lab in improving efficiency, developing test methods and procedures for new products and developing an automated system for generating test reports
- Ensure that lab equipment is properly maintained and calibrated. Maintain laboratory NIST reference standards
- Hire, train, supervise and review employees
Qualifications

- Three to five years as a Laboratory Manager
- Strong knowledge of college level Physics with emphasis on Optics or basic knowledge in the fundamentals of photometry and colorimetry
- Basic ability in reading optical, electrical and mechanical drawings
- Must understand test process and procedures for test development
- Must know ESD safe work practices
- PC skills in a Windows environment including Excel, Word, and NI LabView. Ability to program in Excel and Labview a plus
- Clear, concise verbal and written communication skills
- Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimum supervision
Education
- BS in Physics, Optics or Engineering. Graduate degree a plus
Communication Skills

Mechanical Engineer/Designer
We are seeking an individual who wants a fast paced, highly technical, hands-on career designing and building Light Measurement Optical products and systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop technical solutions to design problems. Design parts and assemblies for products
- Product mechanical and electromechanical design, including manufacturing process development. Design for Manufacturability and Lean Manufacturing
- Possible designs include metal parts and assemblies, sheet metal enclosures, welded assemblies, plastic components, control systems and simple electric circuits
- Provide technical support to Manufacturing, Purchasing, Service and Sales as needed
- Work with Engineers and Scientists in multi-functional project teams to develop new products
- Qualify and test new products as needed
- Other duties as required
Qualifications

- Minimum three years of professional mechanical design experience using Solidworks
- Working knowledge of mills, lathes and drill presses required. Prior machine shop experience a plus

- Experience with generating engineering documentation for manufacturing required. Documentation experience must include generating Bill of Materials and Engineering Change Orders/Notices
- Knowledge of ISO9001, GMP or other quality systems a plus

Systems Scientist
This position is for a Systems Scientist to support product systems development, integration and testing. It includes development of applications for testing and measuring LED, LED based lighting and Displays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Integrate and test Gamma light measurement systems for Display, LED and Solid State Lighting
- Represent Applications and interface with Engineering in developing new products and custom systems. Work with Engineers on qualification testing of new products
- Develop new systems, fixtures and applications software for testing of LEDs, Displays and LED based lighting. Solve technical problems at the systems level and at the component level
- Machine and fabricate simple prototype mechanical parts
- Manage, develop, integrate and test custom systems for customers. Travel to install systems and provide training as needed
- Develop test and measurement processes for product applications
- Write System Technical Manuals and White Papers
- Present seminars at technical conferences and training workshops. Represent Gamma Scientific in technical meetings
- Assist sales in customer demos. Provide technical sales support. Interface with customers as needed
Qualifications

- PC skills in Windows environment including Excel, Word, Visual Basic and NI LabView. Ability to develop software GUI a plus
- Mechanical design experience desired, including practical knowledge of Solidworks or similar. Machining experience helpful
- Clear, concise verbal and written communication skills. Good technical writing ability
- Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimum supervision
- This position requires up to 10% domestic and international travel
Education
- BS in Physics, Engineering or Optics. Graduate degree a plus.
