San Diego, July 12th 2012– Gamma Scientific, manufacturers of precision testing equipment for light measurement, has been acknowledged as an EPA-recognized laboratory to perform third-party ENERGY STAR™ certification testing for lighting products. This recognition allows Gamma Scientific to provide ENERGY STAR certification testing for a variety of lighting products, including LED lamps, luminaires, automotive lighting and street lights.

“Gamma Scientific has been committed to providing world class testing services and equipment for the lighting community since 1961,” said Richard Austin, President, Gamma Scientific. “This recognition demonstrates Gamma Scientific’s dedication to supplying our customers with affordable light measurement solutions, while also assisting consumers with finding energy efficient lighting products.”

Third Party ENERGY STAR Certification

The ENERGY STAR program was created by the US Department of Energy and US Environmental Protection Agency in 1992 to assist consumers in finding energy efficient products. The EPA requires that all ENERGY STAR products must be certified by a third-party to ensure consumer confidence in the ENERGY STAR program and label. Product testing is done in an EPA-recognized laboratory that has been verified to meet strict, international standards for quality and competency. Ongoing tests are also required to ensure that products continue to deliver superior energy efficiency and performance.
