Systems Support Engineer

This position is for a Systems Support Engineer to provide field support and install Gamma Scientific optomechanical systems. Additional duties may include ongoing management of distributor service engineers, product development, systems integration, applications development and testing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing and onsite field support of Gamma Scientific opto mechanical that are installed in Asia, Europe and US
  • Manage the support of installed systems in China; manage Distributor service engineers in China; ensure that equipment is working properly at all times; oversee data collection, analysis and review
  • Integrate and test Gamma light measurement systems for Display, LED, Solid State lighting, Reflectance and other applications.
  • Work with the Engineering team in developing new products and custom systems. Work with Engineers on qualification testing of new products. Manage, develop, integrate and test custom systems for customers. Travel to install systems and provide training as needed.
  • Develop test and measurement processes for product applications.
  • Write System Technical Manuals and White Papers.
  • Assist Sales in customer demos. Provide technical sales support. Interface with customers as needed.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of working experience in a relevant field
  • Strong knowledge of college level Physics, Optics or Engineering with basic knowledge in the fundamentals of photometry and colorimetry
  • Understanding of general test and measurement processes
  • Working experience with software controlled, electro-optical-mechanical instrumentation
  • Basic ability in reading optical, electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Must understand basic problem solving and process development methodology
  • PC skills in Windows environment including Excel, Word, Visual Basic
  • Clear, concise verbal and written communication skills; good technical writing ability
  • Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimum supervision

Education

  • Minimum BS degree in Physics, Optics, or Engineering

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures. Ability to write reports and understand procedures and manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and technicians. Chinese language knowledge a plus.

Optical Systems Engineer

This position is for an Optical Systems Engineer to support systems development, integration and testing. It includes development of systems and applications for Gamma Scientific’s light measurement products.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in product development projects and efforts
  • Integrate and test Gamma Scientific light measurement systems for Display, LED, Solid State lighting, Reflectance and other applications
  • Work with the Engineering team in developing new products and custom systems. Work with Engineers on qualification testing of new products
  • Manage, develop, integrate and test custom systems for customers. Travel to install systems and provide training as needed
  • Develop test and measurement processes for product applications
  • Write System Technical Manuals and White Papers

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of working experience in a relevant field

Senior Electrical Engineer

This position is for a creative Electrical Engineer to develop and deploy new electrical designs. The Electrical Engineer must be able to work closely with other engineers and team members in order to implement designs and meet deadlines. Since Gamma Scientific is a small fast growing company, the Electrical Engineer should possess good multi-tasking skills and be a versatile problem solver. The Electrical Engineer will report to the Systems Engineering Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and debug complex electrical schematics in OrCAD Capture, EAGLE, or other electrical design software
  • Design and layout PCBs using OrCAD Layout, EAGLE, or other electrical design software
  • Integrate microcontrollers in electrical designs and program those microcontrollers in C, assembly language, etc.
  • Integrate new hardware with existing systems, send and receive commands with various hardware/software interfaces
  • Generate full documentation packages for electrical designs, including schematics, GERBER files, fab drawings, bill of materials, etc.
  • Develop electrical test jigs for production testing and verification of turnkey PCBAs
  • Design, code, and debug simple software in C, C++, C#, .NET, assembly language, or other selected languages
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting PLCs and FPGAs is a plus
  • Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques
  • Estimate level of effort, evaluate new options of similar technology, offer suggestions to improve processes, and provide comments on some electrical design aspects
  • Work collaboratively and professionally with other Gamma Scientific associates in cross functional teams to achieve goals
  • Apply a sense of urgency, commitment, and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion
  • Travel to assist with hardware implementation and system integration in the field
  • Perform other duties as necessary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, other Engineering disciplines, Physics or Optics
  • 5+ years’ experience designing electrical circuits and PCBs is required
  • Strong background in Engineering and Physics is required
  • Basic knowledge in the fundamentals of spectroradiometers, photometry and colorimetry is desired
  • Experience with light measurement test equipment, electronic laboratory equipment, or commercial display equipment is a plus
  • General PC skills in Windows environment including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimum supervision

Software Engineer

This position is for a creative Software Engineer to develop and deploy new software solutions. The Software Engineer must be able to work closely with other engineers and team members in order to implement designs and meet deadlines. Since Gamma Scientific is a small, fast growing company, the Software Engineer should possess good multi-tasking skills and be a versatile problem solver.

  • Design, code, and debug moderately complex software in C, C++, C#, .NET, assembly language or other selected languages
  • Develop user-friendly front end graphical user interfaces

Qualifications

  • Strong background in Physics and Mathematics is required
  • Basic knowledge in the fundamentals of spectroradiometry, photometry and colorimetry is desired, or the willingness to quickly acquire such knowledge
  • Experience with light measurement test equipment, electronic laboratory equipment or commercial display equipment is a plus
  • Effective communication skills in English required, fluency in Chinese a plus
  • Experience with OS X a plus
  • Experience with device driver development a plus
