Eastern Regional Sales Manager

The Eastern Regional Sales Manager is responsible for developing relationships with customers and growing accounts in their assigned territory, through sales to government, commercial, industrial & educational enterprises in need of optical measurement equipment. Responsibilities include direct sales, pre-sales technical support, customer service, and management of key accounts, timely follow-up of inbound leads, tracking and closing business opportunities, forecasting and performance against quota. This position requires exercising independent judgment to perform the responsibilities described herein and does require routine monthly travel. This position would be based from a remote field office. The ideal candidate will have experience with sales of technical solutions into the video display, bio-medical, solid state lighting or photonics markets, and the ability to work with technical and management stakeholders in large and small organizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop sales opportunities by researching, identifying and qualifying potential accounts; soliciting new accounts; building rapport; providing technical information and explanations; preparing quotations and proposals
  • Routinely pull and analyze system reports to identify additional sales opportunities
  • Execute timely preparation of all expense reports, call reports and assigned projects
  • Keep management and sales team members informed of all relevant activity
  • Work closely with Service, Engineering and distributors to act as a liaison for customer requests and issues in pre-sales and post-sales activity
  • Work closely with customers to understand demand and their current and evolving needs to develop key OEM accounts and recommend product improvements
  • Continuously build technical knowledge and understanding of products in order to articulate our competitive advantage and value proposition to targeted accounts
  • Apply technical expertise, knowledge of market trends, competition and Gamma Scientific’s product capabilities to help identify potential new product opportunities
  • Routine sales travel to visit new and existing customers and attend relevant trade shows
  • Maintain information in company’s customer relationship management (CRM) system to support real-time management reporting

Manufacturing (Process) Engineer

This position is for a Manufacturing Engineer to help release new product packages and accompanying documentation. Once the documentation has been created they must help with the transition to the production line for a seamless manufacturing process. This self-driven candidate should possess good multi-tasking and documentation skills. They must be able to create schedules and work closely with other engineers and team members to meet deadlines. The Manufacturing Engineer will report to the Director of Manufacturing. Gamma Scientific is a small fast growing ISO 17025 accredited company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with transition of new products from engineering to manufacturing
  • Reviews mechanical, electrical and assembly drawings, Bills of Materials for completeness and manufacturability
  • Works with Manufacturing ERP system to enter and correct manufacturing-related data
  • Works with design engineers on development and implementation of assembly and testing processes and methods
  • Performs mechanical design of test and assembly fixtures
  • Assists Document Control department with release and implementation of Engineering Change Orders
  • Develops test and assembly procedures and work-aids
  • Conducts training of manufacturing personnel (technicians, operators)
  • Conducts Failure analysis and implements corrective actions
  • Sustains existing manufacturing processes and continuous improvement program
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements and equipment layout
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of six years work experience of product or process development in Electronic, Optical or Equipment/Instrument making industry
  • Minimum of three years work experience in CAD Design using SolidWorks or similar software
  • Knowledge of product development, manufacturing Quality control
  • Mechanical Design using SolidWorks or similar CAD software
  • Knowledge of metalworking, machining, fabrication processes and equipment
  • Hands-on knowledge of mechanical assembly, tools, hardware and assembly techniques
  • Prior exposure to assembly processes of electronic equipment
  • Familiarity with ESD safe practices in electronic manufacturing
  • Knowledge of manufacturing ERP software, process workflows and production planning
  • College-level reading and writing skills in English
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software Suite

Desired Qualifications

  • Hands-on machining experience (lathe, mill, sheet metal) and manual dexterity
  • Familiarity and prior exposure to assembly and testing of Optical, Opto-mechanical and Electro-mechanical devices

Education

Senior Electrical Engineer

This position is for a creative Electrical Engineer to develop and deploy new electrical designs. The Electrical Engineer must be able to work closely with other engineers and team members in order to implement designs and meet deadlines. Since Gamma Scientific is a small fast growing company, the Electrical Engineer should possess good multi-tasking skills and be a versatile problem solver. The Electrical Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and debug complex electrical schematics in OrCAD Capture, EAGLE, or other electrical design software
  • Design and layout PCBs using OrCAD Layout, EAGLE, or other electrical design software
  • Integrate microcontrollers in electrical designs and program those microcontrollers in C, assembly language, etc.
  • Integrate new hardware with existing systems, send and receive commands with various hardware/software interfaces
  • Generate full documentation packages for electrical designs, including schematics, GERBER files, fab drawings, bill of materials, etc.
  • Develop electrical test jigs for production testing and verification of turnkey PCBAs
  • Design, code, and debug simple software in C, C++, C#, .NET, assembly language, or other selected languages
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting PLCs and FPGAs is a plus
  • Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques
  • Estimate level of effort, evaluate new options of similar technology, offer suggestions to improve processes, and provide comments on some electrical design aspects
  • Work collaboratively and professionally with other Gamma Scientific associates in cross functional teams to achieve goals

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience designing electrical circuits and PCBs is required
  • Strong background in Engineering and Physics is required
  • Basic knowledge in the fundamentals of spectroradiometers, photometry and colorimetry is desired
  • Experience with light measurement test equipment, electronic laboratory equipment, or commercial display equipment is a plus
  • General PC skills in Windows environment including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimum supervision

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, other Engineering disciplines, Physics or Optics

Electro-Optical Engineer

Gamma Scientific has an open position for an electro-optical engineer to support the documentation, testing, calibration and manufacturing of light measurement instruments. It entails learning laboratory techniques and finishing projects within deadlines. Will learn the use and calibration of photometers, radiometers, spectroradiometers, colorimeters, reflectometers and other photometry equipment. Must be able to travel.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must have excellent technical writing skills and experience
  • Interface with engineers on designs and functionality of new and existing products
  • Travel to customer locations to install a system or troubleshoot existing systems
  • Learn processes and techniques quickly and fully
  • Ability to create documentation for technicians to follow
  • Knowledge of basic light measurement principals and instrumentation

Qualifications

Ability to speak and report in fluent English. 2nd and 3rd languages are ideal, especially Mandarin. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures. Ability to write reports and understand procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, managers and technicians.

Optical Systems Engineer

This position is for an Optical Systems Engineer to support systems development, integration and testing. It includes development of systems and applications for Gamma Scientific’s light measurement products.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in product development projects and efforts
  • Integrate and test Gamma Scientific light measurement systems for Display, LED, Solid State lighting, Reflectance and other applications
  • Work with the Engineering team in developing new products and custom systems. Work with Engineers on qualification testing of new products
  • Manage, develop, integrate and test custom systems for customers. Travel to install systems and provide training as needed
  • Develop test and measurement processes for product applications
  • Write System Technical Manuals and White Papers
  • Assist sales with customer demos. Provide technical sales support. Interface with customers as needed
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of working experience in a relevant field
  • Strong knowledge of college level Physics, Optics and Engineering with basic knowledge in the fundamentals of Photometry and Colorimetry

  • Working experience with software controlled, electro-optical-mechanical instrumentation
  • Basic ability in reading optical, electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Must understand basic problem solving and process development methodology
  • PC skills in Windows environment including Excel, Word and Visual Basic
  • Clear, concise verbal and written communication skills. Good technical writing ability

  • This position requires up to 20% domestic and international travel
