The Temperature Testing Module designed by Gamma Scientific allows the regulation of temperatures at the device from +105°C to -25°C with nitrogen purging in both steady DC or pulsed configurations using a 2-channel source.  Our flicker test module will couple your fixture inside of an integrating sphere either in pendant (4pi) or horizontal (2pi) orientation and will permit spectral analysis. 

Both modules offer optional test & characterization functionality to our integtrated test systems.

Solid state light sources rely on a semiconductor p-n junction to convert electrical engery into light. The performance of solid state light sources, both in terms of light output, stability and operating lifetime are closely related to junction temperature.  Test protocol such as LM-80 or LM-82 testing is used for analysis of these parameters. The Temperature Testing Module designed by Gamma Scientific allows the regulation of temperatures at the device from +105°C to -25°C with nitrogen purging in both steady DC or pulsed configurations using a 2-channel source.

Lastly, each device being tested has a specific contact configuration when surface mounting to a PCB, therefore we offer a customization service to tailor the testing media for your specific LED. Extra care has been taken to isolate physical surfaces so that only the LED itself is being regulated for heating efficiency.

Many modern energy commission policies at the state level are moving in the direction of public safety and energy efficiency. In thr State of California, for instance, Title 24 lighting certification  governs criteria acceptable performance parameters for lighting technology. In the latest revision released in 2016, there is a mandate referencing to a new lighting specification appendix titled JA8, and this imposes new requirements for testing including flicker, ambient lifespan, elevated life span and other forms of evaluation.

Flicker testing by specification requires the ability to analyze light at a high frequency in order to resolve pulsing as a result of a light being operated. Almost all AC devices pulse optically but fortunately it’s for the most part out of the human eye response which is roughly 30Hz. For thorough flicker analysis, the instrumentation must measure in the 200kHz range, and mathematically be able to determine flicker % modulation using Fourier transformations.

Our flicker test module will couple your fixture inside of an integrating sphere either in pendant (4pi) or horizontal (2pi) orientation and will permit spectral analysis as an optional upgrade. For all systems individual or production scale, prices vary on the volume of samples being tested simultaneously.
